Your software engineering team

Software engineered to be depended on.

Inqubit acts as the software engineering team for the companies we work with. We design, build, integrate and maintain their software, and look after it for the long term, with experienced engineers and AI-assisted practices that move faster without lowering the bar.

01Services

What we build, and what we keep running.

Everything a product needs from an engineering team, from the first architecture decision to years of upkeep.

Core practice

Custom Software Development

Bespoke applications, platforms, APIs and backend systems, designed for the load and the timeline you actually have.

We engineer your product end to end: service architecture, data models, APIs other systems depend on, and cloud infrastructure that has to stay up. New systems are built to our engineering standards and connected to the software you already run through agreed interfaces.

Because we stay responsible for what we build, we build it to last: clear module boundaries, tests that describe behaviour, infrastructure defined in code, and documentation kept current. Nothing depends on one person's memory, and you are never locked in.

Typical scope

  • Web applications and internal platforms
  • Backend services and public or internal APIs
  • Cloud-native architecture and infrastructure as code
  • Data modelling, storage and migrations
  • Technical discovery and architecture reviews
  • Documentation and runbooks for every system

AI-Accelerated Software Engineering

We use AI tooling where it shortens feedback loops: exploring unfamiliar codebases, drafting tests, reviewing changes and automating repetitive refactors. Engineers stay responsible for every decision and every line that ships.

  • Codebase exploration and mapping
  • Test generation and coverage gaps
  • Assisted code review
  • Large-scale refactors and migrations

Software Integration & Automation

Most valuable software sits between other systems. We design integrations that handle retries, partial failure and changing upstream APIs, and automate the workflows that people currently stitch together by hand.

  • API design and third-party integrations
  • Workflow automation
  • Data synchronisation between systems
  • Legacy application modernisation

Software Maintenance & Evolution

Software keeps changing after launch. As custodians of your systems, we take on the ongoing work of keeping them healthy: dependency and framework upgrades, performance work, bug fixing and reliability improvements, planned rather than reactive.

  • Upgrades and dependency hygiene
  • Performance profiling and optimisation
  • Bug triage and fixes
  • Observability and reliability work

Also available

Mobile applications

Cross-platform and native mobile apps that share APIs and business logic with the rest of your platform.

ERPNext implementation

Implementation, customisation and integration of ERPNext, the open-source ERP, approached step by step to fit how the business actually operates.

02AI in our workflow

Shorter feedback loops. The same engineering standards.

AI-assisted tooling is part of how we work every day. It makes experienced engineers faster at the parts of the job that are slow but not hard, which leaves more time for the parts that need judgement. It is a tool in our process, not a replacement for it.

Understanding code faster

Mapping an unfamiliar codebase, tracing how data flows through it and finding the places a change will touch, so discovery takes days rather than weeks.

Testing more of the surface

Drafting test cases for edge conditions and legacy paths that rarely get covered, then reviewing and keeping the ones that describe real behaviour.

A second reviewer on every change

Automated review catches inconsistencies, missed error handling and risky patterns before a human reviewer spends time on the design questions.

Mechanical work, done consistently

Renames, API migrations, boilerplate and documentation updates across many files, carried out quickly and checked by an engineer.

03Approach

How an engagement runs.

A predictable process that keeps you informed and in charge of priorities, from the first conversation to long-term maintenance.
  1. 01

    Understand the system

We start by reading: your existing systems, your constraints and how the software is used. The aim is to understand the problem well enough to say what not to build.

  2. 02

    Agree on the shape

Before writing much code we set the architecture and agree with you on scope, interfaces and the definition of done, written down in a short design document you review and sign off before the build starts.

  3. 03

    Build in small, reviewable steps

Work lands in small, tested increments. You see progress through regular demos and written updates, not at the end of a phase.

  4. 04

    Ship deliberately

Releases are automated and reversible. We add the monitoring, alerts and runbooks needed to operate the system with confidence.

  5. 05

Look after it for the long term

Launch is not the end of our responsibility. We keep the system upgraded, monitored and fixed, and build what comes next on your roadmap.

04Engagement models

Clear ownership, whatever the scope.

You decide what the software should do and in what order. We own how it is built and kept running: the engineers, the practices and the quality bar. If you have developers of your own, we work with them only where our systems integrate with theirs.

New products

For a product, platform or system you need built.

We scope the work with you, agree on milestones, and take responsibility for delivering it, from architecture through release and beyond.

Custodianship

For software already in production.

We take over your existing systems, learn them thoroughly, then maintain and evolve them, with clear priorities and regular reporting.

Integration

For connecting to software your own team runs.

The one place we work with your developers: agreeing interfaces, access, test environments and the cut-over plan where our systems meet theirs.

Have a system to build, connect or keep running?

Tell us about your product and the systems it runs on. We'll reply with questions, an honest view of whether we're a good fit, and suggested next steps.
